I have been wanting to get a great HD Flat Screen Tv set for a looooong time today, and have just been looking forward to the prices to drop to your range I could pay for. When I saw this particular TCL 40-Inch, I knew which my time had appear at last.

It is a amazing first-time TV. I arrange it within minutes right out from the box. Very easy, no muss, no fuss. The image looks fantastic. It is such a substantial improvement over our analog TV that it was like seeing new movies. I can’t have a Blu Ray participant, but my Digital video disc player has an upscaling feature that lets us use the full 1080p ability of the screen. A small problem I have had with the photo is the Backlight Sensor, which senses the light within the room and adjusts the image accordingly. I found this kind of always left the photo too dark, so I flipped it off and did the manual establishing.

Aside from the Backlight Sensor, the TV doesn’t have a lot of characteristics. This is a bare-bones machine. The truth is, my old analog TV could do more interesting points (like picture-in-picture), but frankly I barely utilized those. There are a number of different monitor settings, and you can zoom a photo if you want, but again, apart from playing with that feature for awhile I never ever touched it once again.

I am not sure if it is it or my DVD player, but several of my old pre-widescreen Dvd videos, specifically my older Disney and Popeye shows, get automatically “widescreened” to match the screen. It is a bummer because it is essentially pan-and-scan this means I lose some of the image. I have checked, but haven’t discovered anyway to set your aspect ratio in order that it gives me a rectangular picture.

Overall, I’m thrilled with the TCL 40-Inch. I had created some worries about not getting a known brand name, but I have had this TV for several months with no difficulties at all. I would happily buy a TCL TV once more.

The Panasonic TC-PVT30 series and the Vizio XVT3SV series were both highly reviewed and I had been looking at those for awhile. The PN59D8000 review came out shortly after I started looking, and they mentioned that the high marks on the quality of that model would also apply to the PN59D7000. I decided this would be the best of both worlds: the higher quality of plasma with the increased brightroom performance. The price was right in the middle of both as well.
I decided to purchase on Amazon without viewing the TV in the store since I’ve always heard that the calibration is very different, and store performance is not a good indicator of in-home performance. *There is a store setting, during setup.

The glare is noticable while the TV is off, but goes away for the most part once you turn it on. I did have an issue when my wife wanted to re-arrange the living room to where our 3 large living room windows were directly across from the TV instead of to the side. At that point, the glare was VERY bad during the day, even with the blinds closed. We ended up using it as an excuse to finally get curtains and the problem was solved. The PN64D7000 remaining light was easily taken care of by the TV’s filter.

I fully calibrated the TV to the 8000 settings originally & the TV color looked a little off (7000 calibration wasn’t out yet). After digging a little more, I read a suggestion to wait to calibrate until the TV had broken in. I returned it to the default setings and waited a month. By then, the 7000 calibrations were out and cnet had reviewed the 7000 claiming it was the best value available. I had liked the default settings, but could tell they weren’t perfect. Once I used the cnet calibration, the TV was exactly on the money.

I first obtained this Television set because of a couple of functions. One it had been 55″ and two it absolutely was 240hz scanning and LED lit up. I was upgrading my personal bedroom tv transferring from the sharp aquos lc42d64u. Can do for you I liked about it TV:
1. The particular 3d picture is GREAT as well as the 2d-3d converted photographs. You feed as you are right there.

The third time was the actual charm and the firmware had been upgraded. This is a little bit bit scary. Let’s suppose it happens 2 years as time goes on when the TV no longer has enough warranty. I think your firmware upgrades should basically be when absolutely necessary.

6. Sound is ok. Not too horrible as other reviews have mentioned but okay for a bedroom.
Seven. The TV itself looks nice and would fit with any decor. I love the clean outlines and the hidden loudspeakers. The finish is darker hairline black. Not gray as the photographs7 might show.
7. The price is great and it is worth paying of the extra money to get the 3 dimensional features.
9. Passive 3d is perfect for this kind of application.

I was concerned with getting something without having the opportunity to experience it at all. I became very satisfied as well as surprised upon shipping and delivery and use however.
